Talk: An Eye for Food - Machine learning driven computer vision for Agri-Food

While Agri-Food is a major sector of the Irish economy, the sector itself faces significant long term challenges as it responds to sustainability pressures nationally and internationally. Deep learning driven computer vision based on multi-spectral imaging however has much to offer the sector and only a small amount of the potential innovation has yet been achieved. In this talk I'll review some of the technical trends presented for Computer Vision based on multi-spectral data and report on a suite of projects that have demonstrated the potential of computer vision equipped techniques for a wide variety of sectors. Insights into the technical challenges and realities of working with these technologies will form an important part of the talk.
